I Feel a Bit Warm...

It hit a record 100 degrees here yesterday. It looks like mid 90s today. I hate the feeling of walking into my second story apartment after work, when it's the hottest time of the day. Ick.

After a Tiring and Trying Tour, Armstrong Reaches a Pinnacle

A local sports columnist raised the issue of whether Lance Armstrong should be considered one of the world's greatest athletes in this article. He said Lance was an amazing, intelligent athlete, but not the greatest because he rides a bicycle. Cyclists provided an overwhelming response to that piece and the columnist wrote another article in response.

Is it Art?

I got me two tickets for the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players on Friday. I've wanted to see them since I read about them performing at the Gel Conference this year. I didn't realize they were from Seattle and had moved to New York. This show follows in the same vein as the Found Magazine show I saw a little while ago. Taking things people discard and making it into art. The players take vintage slides they've bought at yard and estate sales and create pop rock exposes. Dad Jason plays guitar and sings, mom Tina runs the projector, and nine-year-old daughter Rachel plays drums. I can't wait!

Raising Victor Vargas

I saw this movie last night. It was a charming story about a family that included a grandmother and her three grandchildren, Victor, Vicki, and Nino. It was set in New York and I felt like I was actually there, sitting on the plastic-covered couch, all sweaty and sticky. That's exactly how the weather was here yesterday and the theater had no air conditioning.

Le Tour de Lance

Lance is still leading over Alexandre Vinokourov by 21 seconds. I hope he's got enough gumption to pull off his fifth straight win. I just can't get enough of the Tour. I watch it live every morning before going to work. Anytime I'm out riding my bike I imagine I'm climbing Mt. Ventoux. It's a little silly.

Sew Finished

just finished this corduroy jacket on sunday. i was getting a little lazy and decided not to put on buttons or sew buttonholes. but i think it looks fine that way. i can always add them later. i also started working on a knitty project. and i've got that skirt to make. plus there's michelle and jimmy's wedding this weekend! busy, busy, busy! and i'm trying to catch the tour de france when I can. the live coverage is on right before i go to work, so that's nice.
